MAGNET®LN

  • MAGNet®LN uses high tenacity polyethylene yarn of 150 denier and has a high bursting strength of 450 kPa.
  • The insecticide incorporated into the polyethylene filaments is a wide spectrum pyrethroid insecticide namely alpha-cypermethrin that has high knockdown and mortality to offer best personal protection against the malaria vectors.
  • The insecticide is incorporated into the filaments is released slowly by a true controlled release technology providing sustained bio-efficacy even after 20 washes.
  • MAGNet®LN retains>85% of alpha-cypermethrin even after 25 washes and the mortality is >80% after 25 washes.

KEY FEATURES

DURABLE

MAGNeT®LN has unsurpassed protection at the seams by using five thread over locking stitch with dual seams, providing double protection.

LONG LASTING

No fear of losing the insecticide on washing because MAGNeT®LN uses true controlled release of insecticide incorporated into the HDPE monofilaments.

BETTER BIOEFFICACY

The insecticide (alpha-cypermethrin) used in MAGNeT®LN is a broad spectrum insecticide and is very effective against most common species of mosquitoes.

ASSURED QUALITY

In-house testing facilities for both physical and chemical properties, and strict quality management in each and every stage of manufacturing.

GREEN PRODUCT

MAGNeT®LN is packed in oxoblodegradable plastic bags. The net (HDPE) can also be recycled.

READY TO USE

No chemical treatment is required. WHOPES full recommendation October 2014. WHO pre-qualification for Vector Control Products February 2018.

ADVANTAGES OF POLYETHYLENE

a) Withstands harsh washings (typical washing style in villages). Only the a.i. concentrations on the surface of the yarn is depleted no matter how harsh the washing is. Major portion of a.i. is impregnated into the fibre. Therefore lesser loss of a.i. leading to more efficient long term protection. Less dumping of hazardous material into environment.
b) Made of 150 denier High density polyethylene monofilament yarn. Heavy duty and very strong. High bursting strength of upto 550kpa for seams
c) High performance and durability. Gives very long life up to 5 years.
d) Extra Safe. Safer for child use a major portion of the a.i. is not on the surface of the yarn but incorporated inside the fiber.
e) Long term cost benefits. Provides up to 5 years of useful life.
f) Ultra fast quick regeneration under normal tropical climate. Only 24 hrs to regain full efficacy after each washing. Does not require any special heat treatment to boost up regeneration.
g) Greener product as MAGNeT®LN uses lesser heat energy during the manufacturing process thus leaving a lower carbon foot print.
h) It is possible to incorporate PBO synergist into Polyethylene monofilament to increase the bioefficacy of the LLIN. VKA Polymers has developed VEERALIN®LN which is a PBO incorporated LLIN with Alphacypermethethrin as active substance. VEERALIN®LN has already attained its WHOPES recommendation.

HOW DOES MAGNET®LN WORK?

The lethal combination of high knockdown and mortality effects of the insecticide incorporated into MAGNET's filaments kills almost all mosquitoes sitting on MAGNeT®LN. MAGNeT®LN does not provide mere physical barrier to mosquitoes but gives a far better protection to people sleeping under it due to high bioefficacy. MAGNeT®LN is 100% safe to people sleeping under it.

CONTROLLED RELEASE TECHNOLOGY

MAGNET®LN Vs. coated polyester LLIN
MAGNET®LN: Insecticide incorporated net

  • Reservoir of insecticide in the fiber core
  • True controlled release of insecticide molecules from fiber core to its surface
  • Insecticide lost from surface on washing is replenished from the reservoir within
  • After 20 washes: Bioefficacy is 90-95% of new MAGNeT®LN

Sustained bioefficacy and high denier HDPE make MAGNET®LN really long lasting (up to 5 years)

Insecticide coated polyester net

  • No insecticide reservoir in fiber core
  • Entire amount of insecticide is coated on to the fibre surface
  • No replenishment of insecticide lost from surface is possible
  • After 20 washes: Bioefficacy is far less than that of new polyester net

Polyester nets last for a maximum of 2 years due to decreasing bio efficiency and weaker yarn.

WASH & CARE INSTRUCTIONS

We believe in total quality management and assured quality is given utmost importance because our customers are mostly non-governmental organizations (NGO), and our products are life saving for our end users who live in remote poverty-stricken villages. Each and every stage in the making of our LLINs is vigilantly supervised to ensure good quality control. ISO 9001:2015 certification by TUV SUD stands as a proof to our quality management system.

1. Use loops to hang the net above bed and tuck in the net for complete protection

2. Wash the net separately in soap water at room temperature. Hang the net in shade to dry.

3. After handling the net, wash hands thoroughly.

4. When not in use, store the net in a cool dry place, away from children. Avoid exposure to sunlight.

5. MAGNeT®LN protects against malaria vectors. You should visit the nearest clinic in case of fever.

TOXICITY PROFILE OF MAGNET®LN

STUDY CONCLUSION
Acute Oral Toxicity Study in Swiss Albino Mice. (OECD Guidelines No. 423) Classified as category 5 or unclassified per the Globally Harmonized system of classification and labelling of Chemicals (GHS). LD50 value is > 2000 to ≤ 5000 mg/kg body weight with an LD50 cut off value 5000 mg/kg body weight.
Acute Oral Toxicity Study in Wistar Rats. (OECD Guidelines No. 423) For rat LD50 value is > 2000mg/kg body weight with an LD50 cut off value 5000 mg/kg body weight and MAGNET®LN was classified according to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) as category 5 or unclassified.
Acute Dermal Toxicity Study in Wister Rats. (OECD Guidelines No. 402) Gross pathology conducted at the end of 14 – day observation period did not reveal any macroscopic lesion. The acute dermal toxicity of impregnated Long Lasting Mosquito Bed Net (MAGNET®LN containing alpha-cypermethrin in New Zealand white rabbit (male and female) is >2000 mg/kg body weight. Hence MAGNET®LN is not classified or categorized according to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
Acute Dermal Irritation/Corrosion
Study in New Zealand White Rabbits (OECD Guidelines No. 404)
The primary skin irritation potential MAGNET®LN of Impregnated Long Lasting Mosquito Bed Net was tested in New Zealand White rabbits and was found to be non-irritant under experimental conditions.
